Valentines Day and Moral Police!
Valentine’s Day is just round the corner and all the couples are getting busy saving money so that they can treat their other half with all the love and affection possible. But as on one side couples are trying to make this day as the best day of the year for their partner and themselves, at the same time so called moral police are also gearing up to protect the Indian culture by promising to stop these love birds from celebrating via whatever means necessary.
Moral Police
Moral police is that group of people who have appointed themselves as guardian of Indian culture. They believe that Indians should be protected from western influences through any mean possible. Even if they have to humiliate and beat young couples to do so, they are ready for it. Many young people including women have to face the humiliation like tying rakhi to their partner just to get away from being physically harmed.
Agenda behind Moral Police
There are two reasons behind the formation of this so called morally correct group of people. One is to protect Indian culture of being conservative and not expressing their love so openly. Do you know even holding hands can be construed as being immoral according to this police. If they succeed, then soon we will be celebrating this day also within the protection of our house and by sending Valentine’s Day SMS to our partners. And of course the other reason is to curb western culture from influencing Indians. But are we really so easily influenced?
Are we really influenced by western culture?
The moral police believe that these days started by the western world is influencing the thinking of the Indians and taking them towards immoral mindset. Maybe they have forgotten that it is our country that holds the biggest symbol of love – Taj Mahal. We are known to be big follower of peace and harmony, which can only be achieved if a heart, mind and soul is full with peace and love.
Although the moral police has definitely frightened some people, but they never stood any chance against a country where love is celebrated with equal parts of enthusiasm and respect towards our age old culture. Holding hands and cuddling together never has hurt our culture and never will. Hopefully moral police have finally learned this lesson and has decided to not pursue their way of teaching morals to innocent Indians who have not done anything but fall in love. Let’s all join hands against this brutal infringement against our right to celebrate and send a positive love filled valentine day message to them.
